For the week leading into the holidays
Hi community!
This time of year can bring a lot: travel, family plans, expectations, cultural gatherings, or simply the pressure of the season.
Whether you celebrate something or nothing at all, your nervous system still feels the shift.
Here’s something to keep in mind:
Your system reacts to predictability.
The more you know what’s coming, the easier it is for your body to stay regulated.
So here are 3 things to do before the holidays start:
1. Decide what you need to stay grounded
This could be: a walk, drinking water, stepping outside, taking a short break, a scent, a person or animal.
2. Set one boundary in advance
Example:
“I’m not talking about relationships this year.”
“I’ll stay until 9pm.”
“I’m taking a break halfway through.”
Boundaries lower activation.
3. Plan a 5-minute “regulation moment”
Before and after the dinner.
Before and after the airport.
Before and after the family gathering.
Just 5 minutes where you return to yourself.
You’re allowed to make the holidays work for your nervous system.
With love,
Daya
